Blessing From Archbishop Lipscomb

Most Reverend Oscar H. Lipscomb, Archbishop of Mobile gives his blessing to Archangel Radio. Although our radio station is not officially associated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mobile, we are dedicated to the teachings of the Magesterium in Rome, and wish to proclaim orthodox Catholic teaching.

Dear Members of the Board of Directors

I am writing this letter in response to your request for my blessing and approval of your efforts in the organization of a non-profit “Catholic” radio broadcasting apostolate on the Gulf Coast. I am heartened by your willingness and commitment to undertake the serious work of the “New Evangelization” of the world, as our late pope, John Paul II, encouraged all of the faithful to do. I commend your response to his challenge in this singular way.

As I have commended before, the importance of our faith to be able to use mass media and other forms of communication to proclaim the Good News that Jesus is truly the Son of God and that His life and message bring hope and life to the world. What better way to continue this evangelization than making use of the media in the Gulf Region for this endeavor?

This Jesus of history is Christ our Salvation. What a wonderful message of faith to proclaim to all the ends of the earth through effective means of radio that Jesus Christ is truly the Savior and a reality in our daily lives.

However noble an endeavor a Catholic radio station may be on the Gulf Coast, I must remind the board that this project is not officially associated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mobile and that the organization should not attempt to tie the broadcasting company to the Archdiocese of Mobile.

Despite the above legal requirement, please know of my own personal approval and commitment to assist you in all ways possible. The work of your hands is indeed the work of the church in spreading the Good News in a very special and effective fashion. May God continue to bless you in all your endeavors to serve Him and to bring His message of salvation to the people of the Gulf Coast area.

Faithfully in Christ,

Most Reverend Oscar H. Lipscomb
Archbishop of Mobile
